Past-due OOC update!

(It's way better than the last one.)

OOC, *sigh*

Posting this across journals, and I'm sorry I didn't do this sooner. Basically this is an apology for the utter fail in my online presence. I get a job at last, which is good, but between that and a number of other odds and ends my free time and energy has been very limited, especially the latter. There are evenings I have the chance to relax and RP, but I just don't have the oomph left in me to do anything coherent. I'm sorry if RP friends are suffering, I really didn't mean to drop off the face of the earth. Part of the issue is that I've been unemployed so damn long, it's taking time to adjust to having a work schedule again, and my other projects such as selling at the local Farmer's Market have not ended, and I somehow seem to have gained an unofficial, unpaid job as a photographer there which has started to cause headaches.

Anyways, I am still here, and I still adore you guys, but I'm struggling to prod myself into RP again. I don't want to take an official sabbatical, because I'm stubborn like that, but I may continue to be very spotty for a while.

Contact post: I has one. In character, Connor avoids the phone like the plague (Not that he actually avoids the plague, since he can't get sick- never mind), so your best bet is to catch him in person. The mun is available here or by private message, though!
A few notes for people joining this journal from some other comm: I use this journal to RP on several communities, notably [livejournal.com profile] sixwordstories, [livejournal.com profile] joes_bar, and [livejournal.com profile] dear_multiverse. IC entries in this journal all pertain to the version familiar with [livejournal.com profile] dear_multiverse, and therefore probably won't make sense if you've come here from somewhere else. The version for Joe's Bar is separate, and any activities of that version are played out only in [livejournal.com profile] joes_bar and possibly linked entries on other player's journals. On [livejournal.com profile] sixwordstories I may play either version in the modern time, and if you're confused feel free to ask! Usually it's the Nexus-friendly version, though. I may also play Connor at earlier points in history, because the chance to do so is just too utterly awesome to miss.
In all cases, the monster of a timeline should make a handy reference. All versions adhere to this timeline, at least up until summer of 2010.

Connor's not always talkative, so I use his icons carefully to help give some body language... had trouble with some of these, though. Connor has no proud icons! Pride and flirty are just not qualities he does much... although if I screencap that one moment when he tells Brenda he wants to walk her home and gives her that cheesy puppy-dog look...

I will be trying to keep up with threads, but I want to warn other players I may be erratic. Explanation is very sad. )
1stmacleod: (ooc)
There is so much OOC on this journal it bugs me. Replies may be erratic. I got a nice shiny new-to-me computer maybe a month ago now. It worked okay for a while, developed a problem with a RAM card, thought we had that sorted, and now it is currently down again this time as nothing but a lump of metal that makes funny noises. I'm okay with basic computer troubleshooting, but keeping this thing up and running for more than a week is proving to be a problem and the laptop my gf needs for school is really not sufficient as the sole household computer.

Upshot of all this is replies may be slow/spotty. Don't know for how long.
1stmacleod: (Used to be)
I guess this is another apology. One week turned into three, and I'm just now tentatively trying to pick up threads again. I will probably be slow.

If you're interested in the explanation, while I was out of state for the funeral I shared a bed with my mother, who was getting over being sick, and a lot of my relatives had just been sick or became sick while I was there. Needless to say I brought home germs, and I spent most of the week after I got back non-functional from it. Thought I'd recovered and now it's trying to become bronchitis so I'm on antibiotics. Whee.
Also... I adore Connor, I really do, but his character is very wrapped up in loss and the people he's outlived. Even when he's in a good mood, that history is integral part of him. Having just lost someone, it's been a little too close, and every time I tried to get my brain back into him I shied away again. I will probably be slow catching up, but I'm trying.
1stmacleod: (ooc)
I was really trying to catch up on replies when I could think coherently, but it's been an anxious time living on hold and ready to jump on a plane any minute. I'm still apologizing for lack of replies, and I'll be trying to catch up again when I can.
My grandmother passed away, after a long struggle, and I'll be getting on a plane for the funeral tomorrow, so I will be gone for a week, from 6/19 to 6/26
I'll try to catch up then, and hopefully be less flaky in the future. Thanks to everybody for your patience.
1stmacleod: (looking down)
Seems like it wasn't that long ago I posted an apology for being flaky on replies, and I... still am. Still busy of course, but things are also going seriously downhill for my grandmother right now. We're not sure if she's got days or hours, and everything in my life feels like it's on hold right now. Every time the phone rings I don't know if it's a call to pack for a funeral. I've had a little more spare time... but I'm having a lot of trouble pulling my brain together for coherent replies. I'm trying to catch up this morning, and I'll try to keep up when I can and post when I'll be leaving...

In the meantime, I did manage to pull off some art so there's that. Cut for fanart )

Thanks, everybody, for being so patient.

Just wanted to apologize to everybody that my replies have been spotty lately. It's a combination of LJ's service outages, bad news about my grandmother, and just plain being busy. For whoever doesn't already know, I'm unemployed. That actually means I'm working a plethora of odd jobs under the table, which give me an irregular schedule and keep me busier than a normal job would. This is also a shared computer, and my girlfriend is currently a student through an online university. Our laptop pretty much went kaput months and months ago (it still works... as long as you don't need to actually type anything), so this computer is it.
Anyway, I'm not ignoring you guys, and I am trying to keep up. Hopefully I'll be able to check threads again tonight. Sorry to everybody for slow threading...

FanFic list

There's about a million fanfic directories on the net, but of course I read fanfic, and I wanted to make a listing of some of the best, especially stuff that's influenced how I play Connor. Here in roughly chronological order are some of the best stories of Connor's life, with a few that don't really fit into continuity at the end:

The history of Connor MacLeod )

Connor's current number of kills: 268
Connor's current age (2014): 496

((Disclaimers: Connor's father's name subject to change (not given anywhere in canon I can find). All information heavily referenced from here, which is an excellent resource and also has a nice gallery, and also The Highlander Wiki.))

I'm sure I meant to link these before.

There's no good excuse for this, apart from general brain-deadness due to RL stress.

Made with Subeta avatar thingy. Because.

Excellent timeline resource available here.
Connor's entry in the Highlander Wiki here.

I like the blending of the movies (except the second one) with the TV series, even though it requires some fudging. The only sore point is that in Endgame Connor loses his head. It was the best death they could have possibly made for him, but still, he died!!!

For the purposes of RP, I'd like to believe that instead of ultimately forcing Duncan into taking his head, Duncan did the smart thing and got Connor back for what happened back in the first episode of the TV series: knocked him out cold before he could get himself permanently hurt.
Maybe Connor woke up later, alone on the rooftop, and went and killed Jacob Kell. Maybe Duncan took care of it for him. If I find someone who wants to play Duncan from this universe, I'm flexible on that point. Either way Connor feels pretty rotten over it all...
