Dinner as a goodbye...

After talking with Jelani in the Nexus, Connor returns to the place he's starting, tentatively, to think of as home base. He tucks the envelope full of money away in his suitcase, and takes roughly two minutes to pack, because he's been living out of it anyway.
Then he goes to the kitchen, and rummages, and gets to work. A chocolate cake comes first, made from scratch. While that's cooling he starts on dinner; chicken breasts stuffed with broccoli and cheese, rice pilaf, a little more steamed broccoli in case what's in the chicken isn't enough.

He has to tell Kairos that he's going back to his world, just long enough to get things in order and talk to Duncan, but he's not sure how long that will be.

After it's over, though, this is where he plans to return to.

"...Oh. You can... I wouldn't have thought of that." He grins a little. "And I thought I had a dirty mind."

She lifts a brow, smirking a little. "Well, I occasionally have a dirty mind. But don't worry! If we ever do anything along those lines, I promise we won't have to do them, you being such an old man and all."

"I may be old, but I'm still good with a sword." He grins a little, and takes a bite to hide his expression.

And there she goes, blushing red. It really is unfair that she's so fair. Girl can't hide anything. "If you ever need someone to polish it for you, you let me know."

He almost chokes, and has to take a drink of water, but he looks amused. It takes him a minute to recover. "I'll remember that. You did say- never mind." He's thinking of their discussion of sword scabbards, but he's already made her blush once.

And she meant it in exactly the way he took it. Dirty minds, the both of them! "No, what. What were you gonna say?"

"Nothing! Is the food okay?" He looks a little embarrassed. But only a little.

"Mmmhm! That food's great." She's told him that a couple of times. She grins, knowing she flustered him a little bit. Excellent. "I guess you'll go to bed early?"

She has, and he hasn't forgotten so much as he is trying to distract her. "I... guess so, yeah. I'm already packed..." He sobers a little. "I'll probably have to sell my car for scrap. If it's still there..."

She reaches over and takes his hand. "Maybe you could bring it with you? I don't know how PINpoints work.."

"Are you joking? I never know if it'll make it down the next road. I bet it would fall apart if I tried to bring it by PINpoint." He smiles a little. "You haven't seen it. It's mostly rust."

"No..? So sell it. You can always borrow mine if you want." Kairos doesn't really talk about the car she'd been gifted by someone in the Nexus, buuut.."you'd look really manly in it."

"I... didn't even know you had a car." He looks a little amused. "What kind is it? I miss my '58 Porsche convertible..." Boys and their toys.

She shrugs a little, smiling. "I'll take that as a compliment. I met someone in the Nexus that wanted to get rid of it. Hide the evidence, so to speak. I like to walk, but it'd be nice to not have to beg for rides when I visit family. It's a '67 Chevy Impala." And then she laughs. "Painted pink from it's original black."

He starts to look very interested... then blinks. "It's... pink? I don't guess you'd be interested in getting it repainted before I drive it?" He smirks.

"What, you don't appreciate pepto bismal pink? That's why she had to get rid of it. She pulled a prank on a friend of hers, who owned a black one. He's.. kind of possessive of his car, so when he saw something he was told was his.." There's that gorgeous smile again. "I dunno. Convince me?"

He scratches his jaw thoughtfully with a sandpaper sound. "Duncan has a black '64 Thunderbird and I want him to be jealous?"

"I expect you want it something appropriately manly, like black."

He shrugs. "My Porsche was white. And it's your car, of course."

"Of course it is, but I appreciate your opinion. Plus I'd planned on talking you into a few kisses as thank you."

He smiles a little, looking down. "I've got lots of those. For you, at least."

He chuckles softly. "Does that mean you're getting the car repainted?"

"Probably. Kiss me first."

He takes a swig of water first, just in case, and leans over to kiss her. One hand goes up on reflex and tangles gently in her hair. Connor really likes her hair.
