She's acting clingier than she has since she was a little girl, but Connor has his Rachel back. Between that and his flourishing relationship with Kai, Connor is currently the happiest he can remember being in a long time. There's doubt in the back of his mind, nagging and gnawing, a bittersweet tang he can't quite shake. John is gone, and Alex and Brenda. It's too much to hope they'll come back from the dead too. And if they did... well, that would be a mess, his wife and almost-wife back from the dead now that he's finally moving on. There'll always be room for John, though. Just like there's room for Rachel.
His first time in the Nexus, he met Ramirez. Not alternate Ramirez, not 'I didn't die yet' Ramirez, but Ramirez just as he knew him, with a scar clear around his neck and the memory of his death at the Kurgan's hands. Rachel is vague on some things, but she's the right age, remembers all the right things, and claims the last she remembers was noise and light. He's convinced himself it's his own Rachel, or close enough. How she's here after the bomb that destroyed the building, and killed her, he doesn't know. It doesn't matter. He buried Ramirez's body with his own hands. He saw hers, or what was left of it, put in the ground. She's here now, and alive, and he's trying to put the rest out of his mind.

It's Valentine's Day, and Rachel always did like baking. He's up before either of them, out and then back early. Both women find a vase full of roses by their place at the table, Kai's are red and Rachel's are yellow. There's a breakfast of omelets and croissants, hash browns, and coffee. He even sings a little, as he cooks, which is hopefully endearing rather than painful. Connor can carry a tune just fine, but his raspy voice isn't really made for singing. It probably doesn't help that he's singing in Gaelic, which neither of them knows.
He clears away the dishes, and then gets to work baking. If they want to help, they're welcome to, and he hopes this old favorite activity will help make Rachel feel more at home. What it means for future arrangements, Connor isn't sure. It's too much to think of, right now. Later, at dinner, there is a ring for Kairos and a necklace for Rachel. For now, there are cookies...
