Kairos is very nice, and he's glad of the place to stay, but after five years of wandering Connor gets restless easily. His nightmares are back, if not as bad as they used to be, so he's restless and tired, which isn't a good combination. Teaching and sparring with Jelani helps occupy his time, though, and so does cooking for Kairos. He still has too much spare time, so he sits on the fringes of the Nexus, and watches, and puts off going home to his own world.

There's not a lot of warning, just a little scuffle, and a faint whistle of something flying through the air, and then a ball woven of brightly coloured straw is coming his way.

Silver turns the toy in her hands, her expression thoughtful as she studies that drawn on face.

"Blue," she decides. "Because she is."

Though by now the blue of that cloth looks grey.

"Mmmhmm." She nods, her eyes sparkling again. "The people of the Mage Village are nice."

[random_xtras]

She shrugs absently. "I can make sparkles. But I can't really do anything with them yet because I'm too little. Will you tell me the rhyme?"

"I always look like this, because it's too hard to change back. And all I can do is crawl and cry when I'm in my other shape." Her nose is pressed against his shirt, so he won't be able to see how wrinkled it is right now. Silver does not like being unable to run around and find things she needs.

She purses her lips and nods wisely. "You need more naps. And a kitty to take them with."

[random_xtras]

"Maybe." She tries darting in the other direction, replying to his feelings as she does so. "But you don't need to be scared of her. We make sure she gets lots of food, and I told her that people are friends and the best way to get food from them is to be cute."

"Well you don't look like a nobody to me." She makes a quick direction change and concentrates on dribbling the ball between her feet. "The Organization kind or the kind that doesn't matter."

Thankfully, puzzle bread and the stall it's sold at are very ordinary. And the dark-haired woman at the stall appears to be as well. She smiles at them and in exchange for Silver's penny and one of Connor's she gives them a beautiful little tear apart loaf of bread that's full of cinnamon and brown sugar syrup and dried currants.

"Thanks, Mrs. Fangor." Silver grins at the lady, and then looks at Connor expectantly, waiting for him to pick up the wax paper wrapped goodie.

"Yup," she says, intent on her bread. "Nobody will bother us."

"Hmmm." Silver settles down with her head on his belly, her bright eyes thoughtful. "Probably playing or eating. I'll share them if you want to see."

-Love hand,- says Miss Jenny as she twists to catch Connor's hand between her front legs and hug it. -Miss Jenny scritch now.-
